 Minister of Expatriates Discuses with the Venezuelan Minister of Commerce the Expatriate Situation – Caracas

The Minister of Expatriates met the Venezuelan Minister of Commerce Mr. Eduardo Simon in Caracas. The meeting was attended by the Arab and Syrian expatriate parliament deputies, the honorary consuls of Syria in Venezuela and the Caribbean basin, the Syrian expatriate media and social figures in Venezuela, and the head of Venezuela Fia Arab.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Bassam Omran, Chargé d'affaires at the Syrian embassy in Caracas. The Syrian Minister of expatriates emphasized the strong Syrian - Venezuelan relationship preserved by the leaders of the two countries, President Bashar al-Assad and Mr. Hugo Chavez. He said: "Syria highly appreciates the attitude of President Chavez, the friendly Venezuelan people towards the rights and the just Arab issues, and Venezuela's bold attitudes in supporting the Palestinian people resistance during the brutal Zionist aggression on Gaza.” He pointed out that the developing relations of cooperation, mutuality and coordination between the various institutions in both countries could form a solid base for construction between Syria, the Arab world, and the countries of South America.
The Minister of Expatriates mentioned that the presence of the Syrian expatriates in Venezuela embodied the true concept of the Syrian expatriate abroad; the active person, the message carrier, the defender of the nation's identity and culture, and the distinguished contributor in constructing the new society. The minister pointed out that the Ministry of Expatriates, in recognition of this expatriate presence in Venezuela and South America, is working on activating this human resource in the economic, social and political fields to serve the interests of both peoples, the creation of initiatives that benefit from the role of the significant expatriate institutions in Venezuela and South America, and the good preparation by the Ministry for the year 2010 to be A Year for South America in Syria.

In his turn, Mr. Simon, the Venezuelan Minister of Commerce was proud of his Syrian origin and national identity, and of the significant presence of the Syrian community in Venezuela, and their adherence to the culture and civilization of Syria. He stressed the importance of strengthening the Syrian-Venezuelan relations to meet the ambition of both leaderships, implement all the agreements signed between the two countries, and make the Syrian–Venezuelan relationship as a bridge between South America, Syria and the Arab world. He assured that the Arab and Syrian deputies in the Venezuelan Parliament and members of the Syrian-Venezuelan Friendship Committee are the representatives of the Arab and Syrian community in the Parliament. They are working on deepening the ties between the two countries on all levels, particularly in the parliamentary field, defending the just Arab rights, and working with the homeland to meet the challenges. He asserted the pride of parliamentarians of the wisdom and courage of President Bashar al-Assad in the construction and development of Syria.
On the other hand, Mr. Abdullah Nasser El Din, Chairman of Venezuela Fia Arab emphasized the deep satisfaction after the Arab-South American summits with Syria and the Arab world, stressing that the institutions of Fia Arab Venezuela and the countries of South America are working on activating these relations, and they are communicating continuously with the Ministry of Expatriates.

The Syrian Minister of Expatriate Meets the Syrian Community in Venezuela

The minister of Expatriates assured that the Syrian expatriate clubs and associations in Venezuela and Latin America plays an important role in preserving the ties between the expatriates and Syrian decedents and their homeland Syria.
The minister, in a meeting with the Syrian community representatives in the Syrian club in Caracas, mentioned that the important role of the Syrian communities in the economical, scientific, and political field is an effective force that strengthens the relation between Syria and the Arab world on the one hand and Latin America on the other.
The minister referred to the work on establishing Syrian expatriate business councils in all the geographical expatriate distribution areas which will be related to the specialized institutions in Syria. On his side, Mr. Adel Elias, Head of the Syrian Club in Caracas, mentioned that the strategic friendship between the two countries has strengthened the community presence in all fields in Venezuela.

The minister, in a meeting with the Syrian community in Venezuela, mentioned that the Syrian expatriate clubs in Venezuela are the actual place that achieves the social interaction between the Syrian expatriates themselves and between them and the homeland.
The Minister of Expatriates assured, talking to more than four hundred Syrian households in the Syrian club in Caracas, that the important role of the Syrian expatriates in the economic, scientific, and political fields in Venezuela and Latin America represents an active force that strengthens the relationship between Syria and the Arab countries on the one hand and the countries of South America on the other.
In recognition of the importance of the Syrian expatriates and their capabilities and abilities in Venezuela and South America, the minister assured that the Ministry of Expatriates considers them in its plans, puts the policies to activate them to achieve national interest, and dedicates the year 2010 A Year for South America with a work programme that includes different mutual events and activities.
During the meeting, the minister answered all the suggestions and questions of the community members transparently. He stressed that the country under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad appreciates the role of the Syrian community in Venezuela in strengthening the ties between the two countries to meet the aspirations of the two people and face all their challenges.
Regarding the second and third generation of expatriates, the minister explained that the ministry pays great attention to them, and has launched regular Syrian Expatriates Youth Forums in Syria to attract them and create an atmosphere of interaction and communication between them and their counterparts in Syria. He added that the Ministry of Expatriates sees in the student delegations invited by the ministry to visit Syria a positive phenomenon.

The Minister indicated that the government has paid great attention to the investment and economic interaction with the homeland Syria through issuing laws and legislation that encourages investment in its various aspects, and the ministry is working with high methodology to establish Syrian expatriate business councils in all expatriate geographical distribution areas and linking them with the specialized institutions in Syria.
On the other hand, Mr. Adel Elias, Head of Syrian Club in Caracas assured the appreciation of the Syrian community in Venezuela of the high stands of their country under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad. They also assured their support to the resistance approach of President Assad and President Hugo Chavez.
Mr. Elias said that the strategic relationship between the two countries has strengthened the community role in Venezuela on all levels.
‏The Syrian Club in Caracas is considered one of the traditional clubs and one of the main social institutions of the Syrian community in Venezuela.

The minister, during a meeting with the heads of the Syrian associations and clubs in Argentina, mentioned that the moderate and historical presence of the Syrian community represents the culture of their homeland, and confirms the Syrian values and the highly cultural concepts embodied in their contributions in the renaissance and construction of South America countries for more than a century and a half.
For his part, George Shahid, Head of the Syrian Club in Argentina, praised the high interest of the ministry in the Syrian expatriates in South America, pointing out that Syrian expatriates are keen to strengthen their communication with the ministry.

The minister pointed out that the Ministry of Expatriates started a project this year for deepening the ties between the Syrian expatriate youth and the homeland through holding expatriate youth forums.

The Minister of expatriates met the honorary consuls, the Syrian community, and the heads of associations and clubs in Argentina. He discussed the Syrian expatriate work, and assured the important role of these associations and clubs in the Syrian community’s social life in preserving the communication and ties with the homeland Syria, and in the public and official opinion in Argentina.
The Minister added that the moderate and historical presence of the Syrian community represents the Syrian culture. He stressed that the contributions of the Syrian expatriates to the renaissance and construction of the countries of South America for more a century and a half confirm the Syrian values and cultural concepts.
During the meeting, the minister answered all the questions of the Syrian expatriates and Syrian descendents. He assured that the Syrian expatriates in this important continent represent a national force and treasure for Syria, and their role is important in strengthening the relations between Syria and Argentina on all levels.
Regarding the second and third generation of expatriates, the minister explained that the Ministry has launched a programme for deepening their ties with the homeland through holding regular Syrian expatriates youth forums in Syria.
‏The Minister listened to all the expatriates’ proposals regarding the South America Year.
On the other hand, Mr. George Shahid, Head of the Syrian Club in Argentina said that the Syrian community and expatriates of Syrian descend in Argentina appreciate the high interest of the Ministry of Expatriates in the Syrian expatriate affairs in South American. He assured that this traditional Syrian Expatriate institution has been considered a Syrian national institution uniting them in Argentina. He noted that the Syrian expatriates have a national spirit and keen to promote this spirit in the second generations.
The minister also met the Islamic and Christian figures in the capital Buenos Aires. He emphasized their important and effective role in conveying the spiritual and social message of Syria to the public opinion in Argentina and South America and expressing the true values of the Syrian societies.

Argentinean ‏Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jorge Tiana assured yesterday that his country supports Syria’s efforts to restore the occupied Syrian Golan, and the Arab right issues.
Tiana, during a meeting with Minister of Expatriates, said that the Syrian-Argentinean historical relations are based on the mutual friendship, respect and common interests of the two peoples.
On his part, Minister of Expatriates said that the historical presence of the Syrian community in Argentina and other South American countries is a bridge of communication between the societies of these countries and Syria.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina.
The minister also discussed the situation of the Syrian community in Argentina with Mr. Roberto Godoy, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Argentinean Parliament, in the presence of the committee members and heads of the Syrian, Arab and Argentinean friendship associations.

Mr. Jorge Tiana, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina praised the pivotal role of President Bashar al-Assad in holding and leading to success the Arab-South American Summit in Doha.
Mr. Taiana, during a meeting with Minister of Expatriates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Argentina, assured that the historical relations between the two countries are based on friendship, mutual respect, and common interests of their peoples. He pointed out that Argentina appreciates the principled stands of Syria, and its respect of law and international legitimacy in all regional and international issues.
He illustrated that Argentina supports the Arab just issues and rights, and supports Syria in recovering its legitimate rights and releasing the occupied Golan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina said: "no one can imagine Argentina without the contribution of Syria to its construction and renaissance."
In turn, the Minister of Expatriates assured that Syria is looking forward to establish the best relations with the countries of South America, including Argentina, especially in light of the changes in the international arena, and on the basis that Syria under the leadership of President al-Assad had a leading role in strengthening and deepening Arab-South American relations. The minister added that the historical presence of the Syrian community in Argentina and South America is a bridge of communication between Syria and these countries. He referred that the ministry of Expatriates, in recognition of the importance of expatriates in this region, has dedicated a whole year, 2010, as A Year for South America, which coincides with the bicentenary founding of the Republic of Argentina.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of Middle East Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Argentina.
The Minister of Expatriates met Mr. Roberto Godoy, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee, in the presence of the Argentinean Parliament Committee members, heads of friendship Syrian Arab Argentinean associations. He stresses the important role of the parliamentarians in strengthening the ties between the two friendly peoples, and referred to the need for communication, cooperation and exchange of views on issues of concern for the two countries. He praised the Argentine Parliamentarians’ strong stands towered the Arab rights.

Minister of Expatriates Discussing the Syrian Community Situations in Brazil: Activating the Cooperation and Communication with the Homeland

The Minister of Expatriates met Dr. Gilberto Kassab, the mayor of San Paulo and stressed the importance of developing the relations between Syria and Brazil to meet the ambitions of President Bashar al-Assad and President Luiz Agnaciolola.
The minister mentioned that the important positions of the Syrian and Arab community in Brazil and other countries abroad would activate the cooperation between Syria and their countries of residence.
The Minister indicated that Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad is highly interested in the relations with Brazil and other South American countries, and the Arab-South American Summit was held to strengthen this approach in the light of the international changes. The minister said that the cooperative events which will be held by the Ministry of Expatriates in Brazil and other South American countries in South America Year will enhance the mutual cooperation on all levels. The role of Syrian expatriates who are known for their historical and effective presence in the continent will be central.
In turn, Mr. Kassab praised the role of Syria in strengthening the relations between the Arab world and the countries of the continent.

The Minister of Expatriates also met the Board of Directors of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, headed by Dr. Tawfiq Salim Shahin, who is Syrian. The minister stressed that this institution is not only a bridge for economic communication, but also for cooperation and cross-cultural and cultural communication between Brazil and Syria and Arab countries.

The Minister said that the Syrian government has created an attractive and fostering environment for investment and created an opportunity for Arab and international investments. For his part, Mr. Shahin expressed pride that most of the chairs of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce since its establishment in 1952 were of Syrian expatriates.
On the other hand, the Minister of Expatriates met in the Club in Sao Paulo a large number of Syrian expatriates from the different states of Brazil. He discussed different issues expressing the pride of Syria of all their achievements that demonstrates their being citizens of an ancient civilization carrying its store within them, that civilization that left its mark in the world societies.

Minister of Expatriates Meets the Students of the Syrian Cultural Center in Sao Paulo

The Minister of Expatriates met, during his visit to the Syrian Arab Cultural Center in Sao Paulo, the Brazilian students of the Syrian expatriates second generation studying in the Arabic Language Institution and Brazilian universities.
The minister, during the meeting, referred to the important role of the Center in spreading culture and teaching Arabic to the children of the community and university students in Brazil. The minister also visited the center departments, especially the theater and the main library, and the exhibition of plastic art held by the artist Vania Dinary.
The Cultural Center held a cultural evening and an exhibition of optical photographs about Syria's history and culture included forty paintings representing the different Syrian cultural aspects and the most important tourist facilities, in the presence of a large number of students, teachers, members of the Arab community, and a large crowd of guests.

Minister of Expatriates met, during his visit to the Syrian Arab Cultural Center in Sao Paulo, the Brazilian students of the Syrian expatriates second generation studying in the Arabic Language Institution and Brazilian universities.
The Cultural Center held a cultural evening and an exhibition of optical photographs about Syria's history and culture included forty paintings representing the different Syrian cultural aspects and the most important tourist facilities, in the presence of a large number of students, teachers, members of the Arab community, and a large crowd of guests.
On the other hand, Alnoor journal, issued in Sao Paulo in Arabic and Portuguese, reported in an issue about Syria entitled “Syria: Here begins the time” the importance of Syria in human history as a land of civilizations and religions and the country of tolerance and peace. The journal mentions monsters of Mary and Ebla, Aleppo, waterwheels of Hama, Damascus, Amrit, and Bosra with its largest archeological theater in the world. The journal talked about the city of Palmyra and Dar al Assad for Culture and Arts, and dedicated a special section on Maloula which includes the largest and oldest church, and whose people still use the language of Jesus Christ. It also dedicated a special part on the Arab community in Brazil and the role of the Syrian Arab Cultural Center in spreading culture and teaching Arabic to the children of the community and university students.

Minister of Expatriates met the head of the Syrian Club, head and members of the Homsi Club in Sao Paulo, all Syrian expatriate bodies and a crowd of Syrian households.

The Minister stressed that Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad is interested in expatriate affairs because they have a high potential and are the strength of Syria abroad.
The Minister referred to the importance of the Syrian clubs in Brazil and South American countries which represent a deep history through the social and cultural relations in Brazilian society as well as being an important center for the community children to hold their activities, and which are considered one of the important Syrian expatriates institutions the Ministry of Expatriates works with to deepen the communities communication with the homeland Syria. During the meeting, the minister presented before a crowd of people of Syrian households, children, and Syrian figures the major effective developments and the overall progress the country is witnessing under the leadership of President Assad on all levels, referring to their effective and important role in defending their just issues.
The Minister of Expatriates also met professor Riad Younes, board members of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo, and the founders of the hospital that is considered the largest scientific and academic institute in Brazil and South America. He stressed that the Syrian government is always working on increasing the cooperation agreements, the academic exchange and qualifying specialists with the world, and that the importance of cooperation with the related specialized bodies in Syria.
The Minister also met, in the Children's Care Home in Sao Paulo, the chairman and members of the Board of Directors founded by Syrian expatriates in the early last century which educates and qualifies more than 2000 children in Brazil and Arab community. The minister during his visit to the departments of the institution was informed about its educational and social role.

He stressed the importance of scientific and academic cooperation between the hospital and the Syrian universities and hospitals with regard to training and benefiting from the expertise and rare fields of specializations that the scientific academy of the hospital represents.
The Minister of Expatriates also met, in the Children's Care Home in Sao Paulo, the chairman and members of the Board of Directors founded by Syrian expatriates in the early last century which educates and qualifies more than 2000 children in Brazil and the Arab community. The minister during his visit to the departments of the institution was informed about its educational and social role. He said that the social services of the institution assures that the Syrian expatriate carries a human mission represents his spiritual and cultural values.
He referred to the importance of cooperation and the ways to exchange experiences with other bodies and social institutions in Syria in the field of childhood care and rehabilitation. He referred that Syria is proud of its expatriates for their active institutions and qualifications in Brazil.

The members of the Board of Directors of Children's House mentioned that they are proud that the Syrian clubs and institutions represent the name of Syria. They had always been carrying that pride and their being the cultural interaction bridge between the homeland Syria and their new society.

The Minister of Expatriates met the head of the Syrian Club, the head and members of the Homsi Club in Sao Paulo, and various Syrian expatriate bodies and households. The minister stressed the great attention given by Syria to expatriates.

The minister referred to the role of the Syrian clubs in Brazil and South American countries in deepening the communication of the communities with Syria through their social and cultural relations in the Brazilian society, in addition to being a significant place for the community to hold their various activities.

The Minister of Expatriates also met professor Riad Younes, board members of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo, and the founders of the hospital that is considered the largest scientific and academic institute in Brazil and South America with its developed academic research departments and rare fields of specialization in surgical heart and brain oncology, which was established in the beginning of the last century by the Syrian women pioneers in Brazil.
The Minister of Expatriates also met, in the Children's Care Home in Sao Paulo, the chairman and members of the Board of Directors founded by Syrian expatriates in the early last century that educates and qualifies more than 2000 children in Brazil and the Arab community. The minister during his visit to the institution departments was informed about its educational and social role. He said that the institution social services assure that the Syrian expatriate carries a human mission represents his spiritual and cultural values.
‏He stressed the importance of cooperation and the ways to exchange experiences with other bodies and social institutions in Syria in the field of childhood care and rehabilitation. He referred that Syria is proud of its expatriates for their active institutions and qualifications in Brazil.

The members of the Board of Directors of Children's House mentioned that they are proud that the expatriate Syrian clubs and institutions represent the name of Syria, and their being the cultural interaction bridge between the homeland Syria and their new society.

Visiting the Syrian Cultural Center in Sao Paulo

The Minister of Expatriates, during his visit to the Syrian Arab Cultural Center in Sao Paulo and meeting Arabic language students of the Arab community and Brazilian universities, pointed out to the important role of the Center in spreading culture and teaching Arabic to community children and students of Brazilian universities.

The minister also visited the Cultural Center departments, especially the theater and the main library. He also visited the exhibition of plastic art held by the artist Vania Dinari.
The Cultural Center held a cultural evening and an exhibition of optical photographs about Syria «History and Culture» included forty paintings of the Syrian culture and the most important touristic facilities.

On the other hand, Alnoor journal, issued in Sao Paulo in Arabic and Portuguese, represented in an issue about Syria entitled “Syria: Here Begins the History” the importance of Syria in human history as a land of civilizations and religions and the country of forgiveness and peace. The journal talked about the city of Palmyra and Dar Al Assad for Culture and Arts, and dedicated a special section on Maloula which includes the largest and oldest church, and whose people still use the language of Jesus Christ. It also dedicated a special part on the Arab community in Brazil and the role of the Syrian Arab Cultural Center in spreading culture and teaching Arabic to community children and university students.

The Minister, during his meeting with the Syrian Youth Society in Santiago, mentioned that in recognition to the leading role of Syrian expatriate youth as the ongoing hope to Syria abroad, the Ministry of Expatriates according to its work strategy is highly interested in deepening the ties of young expatriates with their homeland on all levels.
The Minister referred that the participation of Syrian youth in Chile in the Syrian Expatriate Youth Forum that will be hold in Damascus July 2009, will produce new avenues for communication and recognition of the culture of their country Syria.
The Minister also answered questions of young expatriates, indicating the importance of Syrian Youth Association in Chile in organizing student delegation visits every year to interact with their counterparts in Syria, and he referred to the importance of culture and heritage activities held by expatriate youth in Chile.
The Minister met a number of expatriates from all Chilean States, where he discussed the expatriate work and answered their questions and all what is related to their own affairs.

Mr. Sergio Bitar, Chilean Minister of Public Works of Syrian origin assured that Syria has a pivotal role in the regional issues and its right vision made it gain great credibility on the regional and international levels.
Mr. Bitar, during a meeting with the Minister of Expatriates in Santiago, said: "Syria has got an important human heritage in Chile and South America continent. This heritage enables it to be an effective bridge between the Arab and American worlds.” The minister valued Syria’s efforts in holding and leading the success the Arab-South American Summit.
The Minister of Public Works referred that the Syrian community in Chile is proud of belonging to Syria and Arab countries and their important presence in Chile. He said that they are considered the symbol of cultural communication between Syria and Chile.
‏For his part, Minister of Expatriates assured that the Syrian presence abroad is particularly important on the level of development and deepening the relations between the homeland and their new societies.
During the meeting, the Minister illustrated that Syria witnesses an over all renaissance in all fields, stressing that the cooperation on various levels is of mutual interest for both countries.
‏The Minister of Expatriates expressed Syria’s pride of its expatriates who have influenced their new societies with their culture and civilization and achieved honor and glamorous.
